COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The Columbus Museum hosted Women in STEAM Thursday.
The virtual panel was part of an effort to get more girls interested in science and math careers.
News Leader 9′s Meteorologist Lauren Linahan was part of the event. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Linahan along with six other women discussed STEAM-based career options and how they work in traditionally male-dominated fields.
“The one thing that I always try to use with the little platform that I have is to be transparent and to be authentic,” said Linahan. “That is at the core of who I am. Even if I’m on TV, I always want to be myself.”
Some of the women who were also featured on the panel included students from Columbus State University who have an exhibit at the Columbus Museum with research of medical treatments form the early 20th century.
