UPDATE: 18-year-old victim ID’d in deadly shooting on Carmel Drive in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - One person is dead following a shooting in Columbus Wednesday night.

The shooting happened in the 1200 block of Carmel Drive in East Columbus shortly before 7:30 p.m. The shooting claimed the life of 18-year-old Sara Holtrop of Hamilton.

According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, Holtrop was pronounced dead at 7:57 p.m. at Piedmont Columbus Regional’s emergency room.

Police later arrested Elijah Farrel and charged him with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct in connection to Holtrop’s death.
