BUENA VISTA, Ga. (WTVM) - Feeding the Valley Food Bank partnered with the City of Buena Vista to assist residents in need with a food distribution drive Monday.
More than 500 cars lined up to receive the donation boxes. County Commissioner Norman Royal expressed just how many people in the city rely on these food distributions during the pandemic.
“Normally, we are helping two to three hundred people, families with food drives,” said Royal. “Very good thing that we’re doing here. Mayor Brown and his nonprofit organization is just awesome to continue to make this happen once a month for our city and our county. It’s been years, eight to ten years even that we’ve been doing this.”
According to Royal and Buena Vista Mayor Kevin Brown, non-profit Protective Forces began an initiative about eight years ago in an effort to fight hunger and has run food distributions ever first Monday of the month.
