COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - While you’re out and about Saturday, March 20, you can stop by the Columbus Civic Center and load your car up with free food.
Feeding the Valley is set to host a mobile food pantry. According to Hai Clay with Feeding the Valley and Community Warriors, they do this in Columbus every third Saturday of the month. They’re seeking to give out more than 1,000 food boxes.
“We do it for the community and it’s free. We have a lot of people who are passionate about helping the community. When people pull up in line, we don’t ask whether they need the food or not, why they need the food. If you’re in line, you’re getting to get food, but you have to be a Georgia resident. Now on the fourth Saturday of the month, we’re in Phenix City doing the same, and it’s only for Alabama residents. Just make sure they wear their mask because they don’t have to get out of their cars, and we open the doors, and we close the doors,” explained Clay.
The mobile food pantry will be at the Civic Center Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feeding the Valley officials ask, If you can, be sure to bring a bag to help them out with loading up food.
