New details emerge in Avalon Rd. murder as victim’s brother makes court appearance

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A 21-year-old Columbus man made his first court appearance Friday for the murder of his brother, 17-year-old Quindarious Ford.

Court testimony revealed that a witness, the younger sister of both the victim and the suspect, reported to police that Marquavious Ford was let into their grandmother’s home on Avalon Rd. by Quindarious Ford.

The witness reported that there was then an exchanging of words between the two, but it was unclear whether it was playful or threatening. At some point during this exchange, both brothers allegedly said, “I’ll shoot you.”

According to police, the suspect reported that the gun was in his armpit when it was fired, but police have no evidence of that at this time. There is also no evidence that the gun was ever directly pointed at Quindarious Ford.

Marquavious Ford reportedly stayed at the home until police arrived and admitted to purchasing the gun.

The family also made statements during the court appearance, claiming that Marquavious Ford did not mean to shoot his brother and that is was “a mistake.”

Probable cause was found in this case and it was bound over to Superior Court where a bond will be set. There is no date for the Superior Court hearing at this time.
