HARRIS COUNTY, Ga. (WTVM) - Almost every high schooler dreams about their prom, but making that dream a reality can be difficult for those in financially tight situations.
The Harris County School District’s Department of Social Services is hosting an event to allow Harris County High School students in need to “shop” for a free dress on Saturday, Apr. 10.
“We have a collection of prom dresses. We are excited to have this event to help our students who may not otherwise be able to attend prom and make lifelong memories,” said La Chandra Brundage, HCSD director of social services.
Those wanting to participate need to make appointments to maintain the safety of everyone involved.
The Prom-A-Palooza event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Apr. 10. Appointments can be made by calling the H.O.P.E. Center at 706-628-4206, ext. 2301.
Anyone who would like to donate a dress for the event is also asked to contact the H.O.P.E. Center.
The HCHS Prom is scheduled for Saturday, May 1 and the Special Needs Prom is scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 17.
