Family continues to seek justice in 2016 Columbus murder

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The family of a 2016 Columbus murder victim is still seeking justice nearly five years later.

Richard Collier was shot and killed at a house party on Hodges Drive in May 2016.

Authorities arrested Drevon Johnson in July of that year in Jonesboro, Georgia after a search that lasted for months.

Johnson faces murder charges as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Colliers’s sister, Celeste Collier, says the past few years have been frustrating with also having to deal with their own lives, including her father being in a coma since 2014.

“Not only do we have to pick up the pieces with this, you know we have other things that we have to deal with. And I just couldn’t imagine bearing the weight of what my dad thinks waking up and knowing he’s waking up to one less child, " said Celeste Collier.

According to the court docket, the trial is set to begin April 19.
