Alabama attorney general rules deadly 2018 Russell Co. shooting as hate crime
Both suspects in 2018 Ft. Mitchell road rage murder receive life sentences

FORT MITCHELL, Ala. (WTVM) - Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall ruled a deadly Russell County case as a hate crime.

49-year-old Earnie May was unsuccessful in appealing his conviction in the death of Lorenzo Freeman.

The incident came to a head at the intersection of Highway 165 and Sweetwater Branch Road where gunfire was exchanged between three men: Justin Davidson, May and Lorenzo Freeman, who was killed in the shooting.

May is sentenced to life in prison.

Davidson was also convicted of Freeman’s murder.
