WATCH LIVE: Kemp to sign citizen’s arrest overhaul bill into law
ATLANTA (WALB) - Gov. Brian Kemp is set to sign an overhaul bill of the state’s citizen’s arrest law.
The state’s citizen’s arrest law entered the spotlight after Ahmaud Arbery’s death.
The bill tailors Georgia’s current citizen’s arrest statute to “protect the rights and safety of all Georgians while eliminating any potential legal loopholes that could be used to justify vigilantism,” according to the governor’s office.
