Victim ID’d in fatal shooting on Farr Rd. in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The Columbus Police Department is investigating a Tuesday evening homicide.
According to Columbus police Chief of Staff Katina Williams, at around 7:45 p,m., a man was shot at the MK Mart on the 1100 block on Farr Road. He was transported to Piedmont Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Muscogee County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 39-year-old Walter Benjamin Christopher. He was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Piedmont emergency room. His body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta.
There is no word on any suspects.
