Columbus Police investigating fatal Friday night shooting

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Columbus Police are investigating a fatal shooting in East Columbus.

Authorities say it happened on Georgetown Drive on Friday evening. The Muscogee County coroner confirms 20-year-old Steven Daniel was transported to the hospital and later pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was a 2020 graduate of Central High School in Phenix City who went on to attend Alabama A&M University to study business. On Friday, September 30, 2022 at 5:38 p.m., our officers responded to the 6100 block of Georgetown Drive in reference to a shooting.

Homicide investigators responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
