Assistant News Director

DeLoris Washington is the Assistant News Director at WTVM and WXTX TV in Columbus, Georgia.

DeLoris is an award-winning journalist with nearly 30 years experience in both radio and television news. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Auburn University. She brings that wealth of knowledge to her students in the classroom along with solid and practical advice on how to survive in the newsroom of the future.

Her experience includes working at several stations in cities in the southeast including Montgomery, Alabama, Columbia, South Carolina, and Atlanta, Georgia where she worked as a reporter at WXIA, started a faith-based newscast at Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters and also worked at the network level as an associate producer at The Weather Channel.

DeLoris is a proud graduate of Alabama State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Radio/Television Broadcasting.

DeLoris is originally from Salem, Alabama in Lee County. She’s an avid golfer and self-proclaimed shop-a-holic. DeLoris also enjoys photography, bowling, antiquing and has even jumped out of a perfectly good airplane just for fun.
