CUSSETA, GA (WTVM) -  The jury is deliberating a verdict in the murder trial for a Cusseta teen.

Both the prosecution and the defense wrapped up their closing statements Wednesday and now, 18-year-old Quentin Sawyer's fate rests in the jurors hands.

The teen is facing murder charges after authorities say he shot 19-year-old Demarcus Lukes in the head at close range inside of a car back in January of 2009.

Sawyer says the shooting was an accident and that the gun went off as Lukes was handing it to him.

The state says other men in the car saw Sawyer point the gun at Luke's head and that they never saw Lukes holding the weapon.

Jury deliberations will resume in Cusseta Thursday.
