Teen siblings killed in crash on Highway 27

LUMPKIN, GA (WTVM) —  News Leader 9 is following a tragic story in south west Georgia.

The Georgia State Patrol tells News Leader 9 two siblings are dead following a traffic accident on Highway 27 and Stovall Lane in Stewart County Monday afternoon.

Rena Simmons, 18, and her 17-year-old brother died after losing control of the car around 1:30 p.m.

Investigators say Simmons lost control, ran over all the lanes, overcorrected and overturned in an embankment.

Officials are not releasing the name of the 17-year-old who was killed in the crash.

We are told the siblings lived in Lumpkin, GA --  just five miles away from the scene of the crash.
