COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) -  Columbus Police are investigating a carjacking where the suspect was impersonating an officer.

The incident happened early Sunday morning at 1:30 on Macon Road just past Pratt and Whitney.

The victim tells police he was driving a 2003 pearl Cadillac DeVille when a dark colored car pulled up behind him and flashed his lights for him to pull over. He then says a man wearing a DEA hat approached his car and claimed to be conducting a routine drug and weapon search.

The impersonating officer told the victim to get out of the car. At that time another vehicle with two black men pulled up and one of the men jumped in the victim's car and drove off, leaving him abandoned on the side of the road.

The victim tells police he flagged down a driver who took him home, at which time he called police and told them about the incident.

There have been no arrests made in this case, but if you have any information you are asked to call police at (706)653-3400.
