(WTVM) - A Michigan man rescued a child who stopped breathing by grabbing the closest thing he could find – a turkey baster.
5 month old Nessa was being watched by a baby sitter when she suddenly stopped breathing. Neighbor Bill Hogenson rushed over when he heard the sitter's frantic pleas for help to call 911.
When CPR didn't work, he improvised.
"So I went to the drawer and found a turkey baster and used the turkey baster to clear her nasal passage and her airway. Patted her on the back some more, then spun her around and got a good look at her and she quit crying and she smiled at me and I knew that we were going to be in the good," says Hogenson.
Nessa's parents say it's a miracle that Bill was there to save their baby.
