Cross Keys Apartments murder suspect arrested

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Police arrested Jerome Chatman, 23, in connection to a shooting at Cross Keys Apartments.

27-year-old Markeese Hodge was injured during the early morning shooting on Wednesday, Aug. 6. Hodge later died in surgery after suffering several gunshot wounds, including one to the chest, according to Coroner Buddy Bryan.

A second man was also shot at Cross Keys Apartments at around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Columbus police say. He was shot once in the shoulder, and taken to the hospital.

Columbus police say there was also a shooting reported at the apartment complex last weekend.

Hodge's body is being sent to Atlanta for autopsy.
