COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Chattahoochee River is set to receive some much-needed upgrades this week thanks to the National Weather Service.
Rains take a huge toll on the river and the RiverWalk. There is major flooding most times during heavy rains, and the river forecast services in Columbus want to take away that danger.
Beginning Thursday, Sept. 25, flood stage levels on the Hooch will be lowered with the help of a new hydrologic system.
In turn, this will help to keep the area around the river safer during severe weather.
