Man walks across US to raise awareness for mental illness

(WTVM) - A determined man iswalking from coast to coast to raise awareness about mental illness and suicideprevention.

Michael Pozzi says hesuffers from high anxiety and depression which keeps him from working.

In 1997, he tried twice tocommit suicide, and in 2005, his brother shot himself to death.

Pozzi is trying to raiseawareness about mental illness and let those who are struggling know that helpis available and there are people who care.

"Let people know that it'sokay to speak about it, it's okay to seek help, there's plenty of people outthere that care," Pozzi said. "Like me, I'm walking for all those peoplesuffering and a lot of them are suffering in silence."

Pozzi is walking from Charleston,South Carolina all the way to Pismo Beach, California.

He says it will take aboutsix months.
