COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Nearly 200 people dressed in pinkparticipated in the 2nd annual "In It To End It Together" 10K walk on Saturday,Sept. 27.
Walkers made their way through downtown Columbusand Phenix City during the event, raising funds and breast cancer awareness.
One participant drove all the way from Atlantato support this good cause.
It'sreally neat to turn around and see all of these people united as one," MichelleTapia said. "It can happen to anybody so, rather support the cause before youhave to for a reason. I will definitely come back next year, and it's a greatevent.
Each walker had to raise aminimum of $500 dollars. Last year, the event raised more than $96,000.
This year's goal was $100,000,and they surpassed the goal by collecting more than $120,000.
Funds collected from theevent will benefit local breast cancer centers at Saint Francis and Columbus RegionalHealth.
