Auburn man arrested, charged with theft of property

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - John A. Blankenship, 50, from Auburn, was arrested on afelony warrant Tuesday, Sept. 30, charging him with Theft of Property FirstDegree.

On Monday, Sept. 29, a victim reported that an electric gatemotor and a reciprocating saw had been stolen from an apartment complex locatedin the 600 block of DeKalb St. The property is valued at $10,150.00, and wasstolen while the gate was being repaired.

Surveillance video captured images of a man taking theproperty. Investigators developed Blankenship  as a suspect when he was identified as the manin the video, according to the Auburn Police Department. Blankenship wasarrested, and police recovered the stolen property.

Blankenship was transported to the Lee County Jail, and willbe eligible for a $5,000 bond.
