Phenix City reverend and community leader dies at 95

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - News Leader 9 has learned a long time Phenix City minister and community leader has passed away tonight, October 22.
95-year-old Reverend William Boddie died tonight at his home in Phenix City. He had ministered in Alabama for 57 years.
He spent the last 20 years as a presiding elder at Gaines Chapel AME church.
In February 2014, Phenix City Council voted to rename 10th street - where he lived - to "William Boddie Street" in his honor. No word tonight on when services will be held.
