Town hall meeting will explain Affordable Care Act enrollment
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The sign-up period to enroll in a qualified health care plan under the Affordable Care Act is fast approaching.
If you plan on enrolling, you have from Nov. 15, 2014 through Feb. 15, 2015.
To keep the public informed, the Columbus/Fort Benning Medical Society and the Georgia State Medical Society will host a town hall meeting this weekend.
"At the town hall meeting, they'll find out if they're eligible for a plan, what is a marketplace, what type of insurance companies are available," said Dr. Tania Edwards from Chattahoochee Valley Family Medicine.
Dr. Edwards said those who attend will also have the opportunity to speak with sponsored navigator Diana Montenegro, who will help them enroll online and answer any questions they might have.
"It can be a very daunting task but with the help of a navigator, it's a really good tool to use to go online and get the questions asked," Dr. Edwards added. "We know that plans are very different. You'll find out what plan is best for your family, you individually, and there's a wide variety of information out there."
The Affordable Care Act Town Hall Meeting will be held Saturday, Nov. 1 from noon until 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Christian Community Church located at 1819 Midtown Drive.
This event is free and open to the public. Box lunches will also be provided to those who attend. Please call (706) 507-7707 for more information.
