Fort Benning soldiers save severely injured driver from burning vehicle

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - News Leader 9 has more details about what happened right after a fuel tanker exploded on Interstate-185 in Harris County yesterday, November 5, blocking off several northbound lanes.

According to Georgia State Patrol, there were three soldiers, or good Samaritans, who helped get the severely injured driver out of the Nissan before the fire could burn him.

Fort Benning officials say this trio of military heroes are assigned to the 5th Ranger Training Battalion and are from the ranger camp in Dahlonega, GA. they pulled the driver to safety, before paramedics could arrive, and with the tanker next to them, about to explode.
