COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A local center is giving back to the community by providing hot meals for Thanksgiving.

The Rainbow Center has handed out hot meals to the community for the holidays every year since 1989.

Hundreds of people from all over Columbus and from different socioeconomic backgrounds come to eat, and it's all to help out those who otherwise wouldn't have food.

"A lot of people don't have food," said coordinator and Pastor Dr. Gloria Johnson Rodgers. "They won't have a hot Thanksgiving dinner and with the economy the way that it is, a lot of people who usually have they don't."

The center will also give out hot meals for Christmas and Toys for Tots.

If you'd like to donate toys you can drop them off at the center at 2201 Buena Vista Road and if you want to receive toys just head to the center and sign up.
