FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Some Fort Benning soldiers got a chance to feast on an early Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday.
The soldiers celebrated Thanksgiving early with their units at the Kouma Dining Facility.
Officials decided to provide meals for the men and women in uniform today to allow soldiers to be with their families tomorrow. Leaders of the 316th Cavalry Brigade served the soldiers.
Command Sergeant Major Ricky Fields says he's just glad to see everyone smiling
"It's an honor for me to serve them chow and to intermingle with them on a more social basis," he said. "Just to see them smile is a good thing, that's why we are here to serve our soldiers."
Fort Benning is expecting to serve more than 14,000 Thanksgiving meals this week.
