COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Columbus Regional Mathematics Collaborative or CRMC hosted its third annual math masters tournament this Saturday morning
The competition is for middle school students, grades sixth through eighth, the tournament is designed to strengthen their math skills. Schools participating in the event send teams of eight students.
"I think it's a great thing for middle school because you always find high school competitions but middle school math competitions are hard to find-and they need the practice and the middle school children enjoy it. They will use this kind of information in everyday life not just in high school but beyond," Jennifer Peek said, the math support teacher.
This year there are 17 teams from public and private schools throughout the Chattahoochee Valley.
