COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – One of three young men involved in a drunken driving case that killed a fourth teen pled guilty to a felony charge.

Austin Lott, 21, pleaded guilty to tampering in evidence in the June 2012 car accident that killed his girlfriend, 16-year-old Hannah Gilmer.

Two others, Daniel Hughes Messengale and Clayton Qualls, were also arrested and charged in the incident.

Police said Qualls, who was 17 at the time, was driving under the influence of alcohol when he lost control of his car and flipped several times. Gilmer was ejected from the car.

In testimony from recorder's court in 2012, investigators testified that Qualls asked Lott to help him get rid of a green cooler that contained beer.
