COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Columbus Consolidated Government along with the Development Authority of Columbus will perform prescribed fires in Muscogee Technology Park.
This is all a part of habitat land management activities required by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in connection with the 1999 Land Exchange with Fort Benning.
The window for the set burn will start on Thursday Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. until March 7. This will produce smoke that can reduce visibility and other potential issues.
To ensure the safety and effectiveness of the land management plan, the prescribed burn will be implemented by the Georgia Forestry Commission with assistance from Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon.
