COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Police are investigating a gas station robbery that left an employee injured.

The Circle K at 1445 Veterans Pkwy was robbed after midnight, Tuesday morning. Police say the suspect hit the store clerk in the head with a beer can. The clerk whose name has not been released was not seriously injured and returned to work without seeking medical treatment.

Police say the suspect then grabbed cash from the register and ran off. It is not yet clear how much money was taken.

According to Columbus Police, the clerk described the robber as:

light skinned black make

25-40 years of age

5'10'' to 6' tall

weighing about 260-285 pounds

short hair cut

last seen wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans
