COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Tennis enthusiasts hit the court Friday morning to kick off Columbus Regional Health's 20th annual Celebrity Classic.
This year's annual tennis tournament at Cooper Creek Tennis Center features 175 players and 15 coaches from around the world.
This year's celebrity was world-renowned tennis coach, Wayne Bryan, father of the Bryan twins, who are the reigning world tennis doubles champions.
More than $2.8 million has been raised over the past 12 years of this event to benefit the John B. Amos Cancer Center.
Event organizers are happy to see such a large amount of money for a good cause.
"These funds are going to be used to help with patient program services and equipment and also any kind of construction or expansion projects we may have down the road." Aline Lasseter said, President of the Columbus Regional Foundation.
A junior tennis tournament will be held Saturday at the Columbus Country Club as part of the event, along with golf tournaments at Green Island Country Club on Sunday.
