COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus woman has pleaded guilty to filing more than 180 fraudulent tax returns and stealing nearly a $500,000.

Danielle Wallace, 36, pleaded guilty to wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and filing false income tax returns.

Wallace filed the fraudulent returns between January and March 2014. While working for Blue Cross Blue Shield, she took calls from customers including their personal information and used it to file the returns through a business she owned.

Officials say she stole $494,000 in the scheme. Court documents show Wallace was indicted on March 10 and arrested on March 18.

The next day she pleaded not guilty to the charges and she was released on $10,000 bond. Wallace then pleaded guilty to the charges on Tuesday.
