PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - An attorney has announced his candidacy for the judgeship in one East Alabama town.
Zack Collins told audiences at a presser Thursday at the Russell County Courthouse about his plans to run for Russell County District Judgeship.
Collins spoke about his experience serving in the military and earning his degree in law from Auburn University.
He told audiences his campaign is focused on fundamental fairness for everybody, and afterwards discussed his goals should he be elected.
"I believe we should ensure that we have a good mentoring programs for our youth," Collins added. "If I'm elected District Judge, I'll be over the juvenile courts. So we have to strengthen our youth to ensure that they have a great opportunity for the future."
Collins said he also wants to focus on family courts, ensuring that they have programs for divorce and family mediation, and trying to get parents to co-parent.
He said a lot of problems with the youth start at home not getting along, and he said that's important for them to address.
