FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - A true piece of American history will be placed on permanent display at Fort Benning.
One of the beams from the World Trade Center is now on display at the military base.
This unique display is not only a reminder of the soldiers who fought for our country, it's also a memory of the all lives lost in the war on terrorism.
The beam is only one of three on display in the country and was given to the Museum in 2009 in appreciation to our soldiers.
"The ability for people to touch a piece of that history of Ground Zero, literally, is powerful," said Jordan Beck with the National Infantry Foundation. "I'm glad that we are able to provide that sort of moment."
Officials are planning to display the beam on the National Infantry Museum's Heritage Walk.
