COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Some of the biggest names in Christian comedy descended on the Fountain City on Wednesday night to share some good laughs, all while raising awareness for an even better cause.

Comedians like Tim Hawkins, Michael Jr., and Kenn Kington all came to Christ Community Church to support fellow comic Sam Beman, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Event organizers spoke up about how inspiring it was to see people coming together for Sam.

"The fact that this is raising a lot of money for him, he is able to pay a lot of medical bills and get ahead with that," said Brad Wilcox with Christ Community Church. "A couple of weeks ago we probably had a third of the tickets sold, and in the last probably 10 days we sold out. So it's just awesome to see the love people have for him, the love he has for these comedians, and they're just enjoying it in there laughing and having a great time."

Other comedians at the fundraiser included Clayburn Cox, John Branyan, Robert G. Lee, and Jonnie W.

All of the proceeds will go towards Sam's fight against cancer.
