AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Auburn University will start using the latest technology for parking this year. The parking permit hang tags will be replaced with a license plate database.
Trucks with cameras will be able to scan those plates to see if there's a violation. Parking services have more than 1,000 tags leftover from last year, which is something this new system will help prevent.
"It's going to be more environmentally friendly. It's certainly going to help us from the standpoint of enforcement because we don't have to worry about hang tags falling and not seeing them. So it's just going to be good all the way around," Don Andre said, Director of Auburn University parking.
The new system will go into place during the fall semester.
