(WTVM) - Firehouse Subs is hosting its fourth annual H2O for Heroes fundraiser at all participating restaurants.

On Saturday, Aug. 1 the community is invited to donate one case of bottled water in exchange for one free medium sub sandwich.

The case of water must contain 24 bottles, and one sub will be given per person per case.

Local Firehouse Subs will partner with the brand's non-profit organization, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, to distribute these cases of water to local fire departments and public safety organizations.

This also aids children, the elderly, and those in need of water during the scorching summer months.

Several southern states are experiencing record-high temperatures which increase the risk of heat-related illnesses. Health officials recommend drinking at least two liters of water per day.
