COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - According to the Muscogee County coroner, a 57-year-old man has died after being taken off life support following an Aug. 13 shooting; now more details about the potential suspects and the car they were driving have been released by police.
Simon Lee King, Jr., was shot multiple times around 12:46 a.m on Aug. 13 in the 300 block of 28th Avenue and Clover Lane. King was shot multiple times in the abdomen and rushed to Midtown Medical Center. King passed away around 2 p.m. on Saturday after being in the ICU since the shooting.
Detectives interviewed witnesses and said they are looking for two suspects. So far no arrests have been made.
The following investigation revealed that witnesses stated King was walking down the street when a vehicle stopped next to him.
The vehicle was occupied by two black males, according to the police. The males apparently called King over to the car and then shot him. The vehicle then fled and was last seen traveling up Clover Lane.
The car and its occupants were described as: a gold or silver-colored 4-door sedan, with two black males who were approximately 19 to 24 years old.
