COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Local organizations teamed up Tuesday night to raise awareness to how children are raised in America.
It was all part of a special screening for a documentary titled "The Raising of America."
The event took place at the auditorium of the Columbus Public Library. The documentary was one in a series promoting the value of literacy.
The documentary aims to show how important the environment children are raised in helps shape the person they become.
"The response has been great in the community with people understand what we're doing and what we're trying to solve in the community," said Warren Steele, a volunteer coordinator with Childhood Literacy. "We just get great support for what we're trying to do."
Multiple organizations including the Muscogee County School District and the Muscogee County FERST Foundation for Childhood Literacy helped put the event together.
