COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Close to 700 people across the valley joined together to pay their final respects to Mariah Farrow.

Family and friends fought to hold back tears as they reflected on the 19-year-old and some even had to leave the ceremony filled with emotions.

Her funeral was held New Birth Outreach Church on Veterans Parkway. Some residents showed their support by wearing CSU shirts bearing her name.

We talked to one of Farrow's friends who is still in disbelief.

"It shocked the world for her to just die like that because you know she was one of those people that had an effect on everyone. Her friends in there were just pouring out tears, and it was young students in their pouring out tears because she don't deserve that like that. When we heard that she died it just shocked the world. In there it was just shocking to see how many people came out to support her," Almeterez Thomas said, a friend of Farrow.

Phenix City police arrested Farrow's ex-boyfriend 18-year-old Demetrius Dorsey. He is now charged with her murder.

She was shot multiple times Sunday night at 16th Street and 10th Court.
