PERRY, GA (WTVM) – A commodity in Georgia is getting more attention than the Iowa State Fair straw poll.
At the Georgia National Fair in Perry, fair-goers casted their vote for President in Georgia's Inaugural Presidential Peanut Poll. Republican Presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson was the overall winner of the Presidential Peanut Poll, receiving 8,576 of the 28,586 votes casted overall. Donald Trump was a close second place, followed by Hillary Clinton who came in at a distant third place.
Mason Jars were marked for each of the Democrat and Republican Presidential candidates. Fair-goers were given one peanut to place in the jar of their favorite candidate.You see the results of the largest straw poll in America by clicking here.
The Presidential primary in Georgia is not until March 1, 2016.
