SEGMENT: Healthy tips for Halloween

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Halloween is right around the corner and while many are gearing up for another spooky holiday, the scariest part of Halloween may be reading the candy labels.

It doesn't take much candy for someone to reach the daily recommended amount of sugar, according to Dayton Preston, Wellness Program Manager at Columbus Regional Health.

Preston also says the concern for Halloween candy is that it lasts for a long period of time and there is too much processed sugar in the candy.

It is recommended for parents to limit the amount of candy children eat and to make sure candy is not a part of their regular diet.
