COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Nothing shows appreciation like providing a free meal, and that's exactly how a local church honored law enforcement on Thursday.

World Changes Tabernacle Pastor Prathan Powell and members of his congregation passed out meals today at the Columbus Police Department.

Pastor Powell wants to let local police know that they're doing a great job.

"So what we're wanting to do is make a statement that the church as a whole, we are concerned about our community, but we know that the law enforcement's job and responsibility is to protect and to serve, and we want them to know again today that we appreciate that," Pastor Prathan Powell says.

The event follows dozens of officer-involved shooting and excessive police brutality cases- nationwide.
