AL state superintendent stops in Phenix City to 'Celebrate Innovation'

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) – The Phenix City School System welcomed state superintendent Dr. Tommy Bice and members of the State Board of Education Tuesday morning.

Together, they are celebrating creativity in the schools and classrooms. Phenix City schools were chosen as one of the stops on Dr. Bice's "Celebrate Innovation" tour across the state, which focused on innovative programs, schools, classrooms and teachers who are creating innovative opportunities.

"We are asked that all the time. What should be the main focus of education in Alabama? Creating children who can think, problem solve, and who can work together that can solve the problems of tomorrow that we have not identified yet. Not just to prepare kids to take a test," Dr. Bice said.

"Celebrate Innovation" aims to highlight the educators in Alabama's school systems who are thinking outside the box and forming new and creative ways to deliver quality education.

WTVM is a partner in education with Phenix City schools.
