COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - One of the "coolest" annual traditions in Columbus has kicked off at the Columbus Ice Rink.
Tuesday was the kickoff of the 19th annual "Tip A Snake" charity event hosted by the Columbus Cottonmouths.
Players hosted about a dozen children from Children's Miracle Network at Midtown Medical Center to a day of fun on the ice during the "Skate with a Snake" event.
Saturday's annual Tip-A-Snake dinner and silent auction will feature Cottonmouths players as servers, and all proceeds will go toward the Children's Miracle Network.
"The proceeds go to our miracle kids at the children's hospital at Columbus Regional so it's a lot of fun," said Meredith Campbell, special events coordinator at Columbus Regional. "The Cottonmouths hockey players behind me, they're table servers, they dance, we laugh, we play, we'll be auctioning shirts off, have a great time."
The Tip A Snake silent auction and fundraiser will take place Saturday, Feb. 20 starting at 6 p.m. at the Green Island Country Club.
