COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The deadline for filing your tax returns now just over a month away on Monday April 18.
A local tax professional, Cedric Mitchell, joined News Leader 9 to answer tax questions as the season comes to an end.
It's important to get an estimate on your taxes as soon as possible because you don't want to wait until the last minute.
While Georgia is very high in identify theft, you must bring document to verify who you are and proof to quality for the dependents you claim to file your taxes, according to Mitchell.
It may seem convenient to do your taxes online, but it is best to call your local tax office to get a free estimate on your tax returns. When getting a free estimate you should not have to provide any personal information such as you Social Security number.
