(WTVM) - Big news for Walmart employees in the state of Georgia as more than 50,000 workers in the state are set to receive a big pay raise in their next paycheck.
The boost is part of a nationwide initiative in higher pay for better opportunities for its workers. All Walmart employees in Georgia hired before this year will see their pay increased to $10 an hour starting this week and employees earning more than that will still see a pay bump in their next paycheck.
"I derived a considerable amount of satisfaction informing my associates of their respective compensation increases," said Quincy Springs, store manager at Walmart's Supercenter at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Atlanta. "It let them know that hard work and dedication pays off and it motivated many to want to do more."
Employees hired this year will start at $9 an hour before moving up to $10 after completing their training programs.
