COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - On Friday, March 11 at approximately 11: 25 p.m., Columbus police officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress at a residence in the 4300 block of Oates Avenue.
An officer travelling to the scene noticed a person matching the description of the burglary suspect traveling north on 2nd Avenue.
The officer stopped the suspect, later identified as Glen Allen Stringfellow, on 2nd Avenue near 44th Street to ask him a few questions. The officer reported Stringfellow dropped something in the grass and continued walking.
When the officer questioned him about the object, he turned and started running.
The officer was able to catch and detain Stringfellow on 3rd Avenue near 42nd Street.
After Stringfellow was captured, officers recovered the item he dropped. Officers discovered a balled up sock with a pipe inside containing Methamphetamine.
Stringfellow was charged with obstructing an officer, and possession of meth and possession of a drug-related object.
