OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – Opelika police have made an arrest in connection to the murder of 22-year-old Jacob Austin of Auburn.
According to police, 19-year-old Malik Dejuan Jacobs, alias, Malik Sistrunk, was arrested on Monday, March 14 at 4:33 p.m.
Jacobs, was arrested at a Motel 6, located at 1107 Columbus Parkway on a murder warrant.
Murder warrant was in relation to the shooting death of Jacob Austin Smith on Feb. 27, 2016, which occurred in the 500 block of Raintree Street.
Jacobs was located and taken into custody with the assistance of the U.S. Marshall's Fugitive Task Force.
He was then booked into the Lee County Jail where he is waiting for bond.
