COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A West Georgia Congressman adds another honor to his already impressive resume.
U.S. Congressman Sanford Bishop of Columbus was recently named one of the most Bipartisan lawmakers in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The new study named Bishop, who represents Georgia's 2nd District, one of the members of Congress most willing to reach across party lines to sponsor, evaluate and pass legislation.
Bishop came in 13th out of 535 lawmakers on the new Bipartisan index.
"The clash of opposing views is healthy for our democracy, but governing requires more than empty partisan talking points," said Congressman Bishop in a written statement. "Getting the job done for the American people requires working across the aisle," Bishop said.
The Lugar Center and Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy recently unveiled the Bipartisan Index. The rankings are based on bill sponsorship and co-sponsorship.
